What are the eligibility requirements for this course?

If you are an existing ETO or are working in a similar capacity, you must have 12 months’ seagoing service as an ETO or 12 months’ seagoing service carrying out similar duties. If your on board duty was different , ask for details using the following address Engineering@mcga.gov.uk or exams@mcga.gov.uk

How much does the course cost?

Tuition fees for RNC (Constanța, România) training program is 2500 euro divided as below:

  • 3 weeks Distance Learning Electro-Technology – 500 euro
  • 3 weeks: Electro-Technology – 1000 euro
  • 3 weeks : Electronic Principles – 1000 euro

How much does the UK training program cost?

  • MNTB Officer Competency Record Book for ETOs – £70 -mandatory
  • Practical AMERC ENEM course UK -STC (3 weeks, cost £3100) – optional
  • Practical AMERC GMDSS Radio Maintenance UK -STC (3 weeks, cost £3100) – optional
  • Practical MCA approved High Voltage course UK -STC (1 week, cost £1150) – mandatory
  • MCA oral examination, cost £220 – mandatory
  • The accommodation cost is £19.25 per night, which includes a £7.90 food allowance- which is a 2 meal provision.

What exams Do I Have to Pass?

  • SQA Chief Engineer Electro-technology written examination- 4 times per year – on a set date. The examination are normally held in October, December, March/April and July.
  • AMERC Electronic principles written examination – arranged by STC
  • MCA – ETO oral examination- will be arranged 4 weeks in advance
